Our mechanics have compiled and authored the following sections so that you can get on with fixing your bike without needing to get a mechanic to help you.
Wheel Building GuideSheldon Brown's wheel building guide doesn't have the best diagrams but it's an invaluable free guide to lacing your first wheels. Tensioning and truing the wheel usually takes amateurs several attempts. Building a wheel correctly is much easier when your patient and methodical, so if its your first wheel build we recommend that first timers take a long break between lacing and tensioning, as few people have the attention span to follow the steps all in one go without getting stuck. | sheldonbrown.com/wheelbuild.html
This online spoke calculator is an essential tool for most wheel-builders. In our experience its pretty spot on with its calculations. Just make sure to use some vernier calipers to take your hub measurements. Measuring tape is good enough for measuring the ERD (effective rim diameter - from the seat of a nipple to the same spot on the opposite side) | wheelpro.co.uk/calculator
